Period House Garden - Blackheath

Design Brief

A period home demands a very special type of garden, one which feels as if it was created along with the house and yet at the same time is alive with fresh, vibrant colours and has an occasional elegant twist, be it in the materials used or contemporary features such as furniture and lighting.

For this home in Blackheath the house is steeped in history and anything too modern could ironically look dated quicker than the house itself. Therefore a careful selection of plants had to echo the period of the building, with materials such as Yorkstone giving the finished pathways a timeless elegance.

The garden before we got to work on it...

  • Rear Garden - The main terrace and long lawn

  • The pergola walk

  • High quality materials

  • Traditional topiary planters give a timeless appearance to the terrace

  • Woodland Area - Carefully selected shade-tolerant woodland species

  • Specially curved Yorkstone pathways extend the feeling of width across the garden

  • Easy to maintain and yet full of colour and form right through the four seasons
