We keep a few of these brilliant devices in our van and kit bag. They're Blade Tech Classics, small enough to slip in a pocket but well made to sharpen all our Felco and Niwaki tools. Secateurs can never be too sharp. And they're British Made so we have the satisfaction in supporting a fellow British company. * this is not a sponsored advert, this is a genuine review of a great product. . . . . . . #bladetech #sharp #sharpener #gardendesign #garden #gardening #landscaping #british #classic #cutting #knife #tool #secateurs #loppers

We sometimes get asked what we do in winter when it's minus 2 degrees outside and we can't do much planting. Well, we design gardens like this one in Lower Halstow. It's an adventurous challenge with numerous wildlife areas and a river running through the garden but with a 3d model in sketchup the ideas become clear and we can plan for when the weather warms up. . . . . . . #gardens #garden #landscaping #gardensofinstagram #sketchup #gardendesign #wildlife #nature #lowerHalstow #design #ecological #planting #planning #3ddesign #gardening #conservation

Watching the New Year's fireworks over London, I was reminded of this tiny garden we did in Theed Street back in 1998. It was one of our first courtyard gardens and one I still look back on fondly all these years later. The railway sleeper 'fireplace' is, actually a water feature and all the plant species were in existence in 1900. . . . . . #londongarden #theedstreet #landscaping #se1 #gardendesign #garden #railwaysleepers #courtyard #1998 #gardendesigninspiration #gardensofinstagram #obelisk #enclosed #stockbrick

So glad to have a library which can saves hours of searching countless websites on Google. 'Perennials and their garden habitats' by Hansen and Stahl is invaluable when working on commercial landscaping schemes as it lists perennials by group for a huge range of applications like this swale planting scheme for a housing developer. I bought the book back in '97, one of the first I bought when I set up professional practice. Prunus x subhirtella autumnalis 'Rosea', a winter flowering cherry tree, planted in memory of my late father who passed away almost six years ago. His birthday is early February so this should be in flower for his birthday. I think he must be overseeing it still as its been blooming throughout the summer on and off even though it's only really supposed to flower November to March. . . . . . #inlovingmemory #remember #prunus #tree #winterflowering #gardendesign #gardens #gardening #welling #landscaping #cherry #cherrytree
