Community orchards are a great way of bringing people together and Nine Horse Wood in New Ash Green is a beautiful example of an orchard within a larger housing development. Ripe Bramley Seedlings are literally falling from the trees on a gorgeous sunny Sunday afternoon. And one or two late flowers which was surprising! There's even a helpful year planner to guide you through the twelve months of the life of the orchard. . . . . . . . #orchard #community #wood #trees #apple #apples #bramley #bramleyseedling #woodland #landscape #newashgreen #kent #flower #wildlife #nature #wildlifevalue #fruit #tree #plants #garden #gardening

There's always one, isn't there?! Organic tomatoes grown outside our office. Great for lunches even if they do come with extra bits 😊 #nobdy'sperfect . . . . . . #tomato #tomatoes #organic #homegrown #curious #fruit #eynsford #gardens #gardening #ingredients #garden #fruitandveg #healthyfood

A Jersey Tiger moth, Euplagia quadripunctaria, made a rare appearance in our garden today, a sign that the wild areas we've left have attracted it to the nettles and bramble left undisturbed in one corner of the garden. Proves how essential it is to not be too hasty to get rid of 'weeds' as these rare moths need such habitats to survive. . . . . . . . #tiger #jersey #moth #jerseytigermoth #rare #habitat #wild #wildlife #nature #wildlifevalue #gardendesign #garden #gardening #landscaping #conservation #ecofriendly #hartley #growwild #euplagiaquadripunctaria

Through all these current difficult times, we all need to dig deep and know we are often stronger than we think. This little seedling of Tradescantia 'Sweet Kate' growing up in the cracks of an old patio is testament to overcoming the odds. Tiny, pushing its way up through concrete, it survives - and flowers. I will leave it be, its more than earned its place 🌼 . . . . . #survivor #seedling #landscaping #landscapedesign #mygarden #gardens #flowersofinstagram #flower #tradescantia #kate #digdeep #gardening #garden #plant #respect

The evening scent off these lilies is quite breathtaking. Not suitable for gardens with cats as they are toxic if nibbled but when they open up they really perform. . . . . . #lily #plantingdesign #flowersofinstagram #gardens #garden #gardening #scent #flower #lilium #hartley #plantsforhotspots #plants #fragrance

Traps set, now we wait. The Box Tree Moth, Cydalima perspectalis, was accidentally introduced to the UK from South-East Asia, most likely on imported box hedging. First sighted in 2007 in Kent, this moth is responsible for decimating many of our classical and much-loved box topiary and hedges when the emerging caterpillars feed voraciously on the plants leaves, often to the point of total destruction. By setting pheromone traps, they become lured by the scent, away from our native box. . . . . . . #buxus #hedging #topiary #box #pheromones #gardendesign #garden #gardening #gardens #mothtrap #moth #invader #pest #horticulture #landscaping #landscape #asia #caterpillar

Quick plant check on one of our Otford gardens, the central roundabout of which we planted up last year. Rain is forecast but hasnt been reliable lately for good heavy downpours so we soak dry areas to make sure the new intros can get their roots down. Drought tolerance takes time to build up even for lavenders which do so well here in the Darent Valley. The bees also love them 🐝🐝🐝🐝 . . . . . . #droughttolerant #lavender #munstead #plants #gardensofinstagram #plantingdesign #gardendesign #otford #plantsforbees #bees #wildlifevalue #wildlife #raisedplanter #gravel #kent
