"Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind." (A Midsummer Nights Dream, William Shakespeare). Appropriate to recall this 'Shakespeare 2000' rose planted in one our walled Blackheath gardens. Inspiration for material colours can literally come from anywhere. Walking around the Mac section in John Lewis Bluewater this evening with my daughter, Katie (makeup for her, not me 😊), I was in awe of the palette of colours in one section alone. Gives me ideas for wall render finishes 😉🎨 . . . . #inspiration #makeup #bluewater #palette #colour #brightcolours #landscaping #gardendesign #designer #newproject #colourtheory #daughter #lovingthemoment #ideas #render #wall #gardensofinstagram #garden #gardens

Where there is death there is also life. Sunday afternoon walk in the woods and this bracket fungus was worth a closer look. Old trees cut down as part of the woodland management are cut into sections and left for wildlife to feed on and inhabit. All part of the cycle of life... . . . . . . #sundaywalk #fungus #bracketfungus #wildlifevalue #woodland #walk #ecotystem #recycling #foodforfungi #fungi #shootershill #greenwich #oxleas #habitat #landscaping #landscape #logs #treesurgery #beetlesandbugs

Gotta love our neighbours. Gentle giants but best stay the right side of the fence when it's lunchtime. . . . . #highland #cattle #eynsford #countryside #countrylife #feedingtime #neighbours #field #rural #landscape #hay #lunchtime #gentle #fur #eat #kent #highlandcow #calf

At the start of a New Year, I always remind myself that I need to make more time for reading which is tricky when you run your own business as there never seems enough hours in the day. However, with Christmas presents like these I will certainly make an effort to find time. Walking along a beach in December is sometimes rewarded by beauty such as this. Just had to stand in awe. Brighton's old pier burnt down in 2003 but still graces the shoreline with more embers. . . . . . . #brighton #brightonpier #burnt #sunset #waves #shoreline #sea #westpier #seafront #history #eastsussex #architecture #landscapesofinstagram #beach #silhouette

Challenging times for anyone working outdoors at the moment. With our office based in Eynsford, we keep a close eye on the River Darent which flows only feet away from our front door. The name Darent is derived from the early British word 'derva' which means oak. And like an old oak tree, this river has a long history. Right now it's flooding but with clear skies over the coming week it will soon return back to safe levels again. . . . . #riverdarent #river #history #conservation #flood #flooding #darent #eynsford #landscape #village #outdoors #countryside #water #farming #riverlife #challenge #scenery #ford #bridge #roadclosure

12 hour day working on planting plans means a late meal with my daughter at Bluewater. Native hedging creates a strategic, key wildlife benefit on numerous levels. As a windbreak, as a nesting habitat and as a food source, a native hedge sits beautifully in a rural landscape. With wild rose, field maple, beech, Holly and hawthorn, this hedge will tick a lot of boxes. Mostly bare root means it doesn't cost the earth, either. All bare root except the hollies as difficult to buy them tall as bare root. Rabbit guards are essential given its countryside setting. So are the wellies as the soil is wet with so much rain! . . . . . #nativehedging #planting #countryside #wildlifevalue #wildlife #landscaping #landscape #eco #nativetrees #autumnplanting #mud #muddy #rabbit #habitat #foodsource #countryside #kent #brenchley #boundary #local #plants #rose #beech #holly #fieldmaple #hawthorn #bareroot
